Envirocool®

A beautiful roof that saves you money – no wood shake can do that.

We enhanced our superior proprietary formulation with inorganic reflective pigments to create a highly engineered cool roof product with Enviroshake’s unmatched quality and benefits: Envirocool.

What is Cool Roofing?

Cool roofing defines a material with enhanced properties that allow it to reflect and emit the sun’s radiation back toward the sky instead of transferring the heat into your house.

The coolness of a product is measured by the Solar Reflectivity Index (SRI), which measures solar and thermal emittance. To be considered a cool roof, a product must have an SRI greater than 19. The higher the value, the cooler the roof. Enviroshake's signature  roofing product Envirocool, has an SRI value of 31.

If you are looking for even greater reflectivity, choose our custom colour Bermuda White, for an impressive SRI of 80.9.

Energy saving opportunities between a standard asphalt roof and an Envirocool roof showing asphalt at $0.40/KWH and Envirocool at $0.28/KWH. Sun's radiation hitting a roof, showing how much of the Sun's radiation bounces off as solar reflectance instead of being absorbed.

Big benefit white on white. House stays much cooler (we could say ‘cold’) all year so far. Have to keep socks on when walking on the tile floors. Our solar setup allows us to run AC 24//7 and our last 3 bills have been under $100 (2 were under $80) so that’s unheard of around here. Enviroshake white slate with Icynene insulation, two great Canadian products both help out tremendously!

Key Enviroshake installation tips:

  1. Ensure there is a minimum gap of 3/8" between each tile
  2. Install four nails per tile, one in each marked nailing area
  3. Use the Enviroshield synthetic underlayment to qualify for a Gold-Level Warranty
  4. Enviroshake installs with up to 40% less labour than a natural cedar shake roof!

Is your property in an environment that experiences snow fall? If so, Enviroshake highly recommends installing snow guards, as they can protect your property from damage caused by sliding snow and ice. For more information on snow guards, see our accessories tab.

Snow Guards

Enviroshake proudly offers Alpine® Snow Guards as an accessory to your Enviroshake roofing system.

Snow guards should be placed on all roof surfaces to protect against snow damage to the areas below. It is especially important to install snow guards above entryways, walkways, gathering areas, landscaping, parking, ground-mounted mechanicals, lower roofs, valleys, crickets, gutters, and roof vents.

Snow guards are specifically designed to prevent entire roof loads of snow from avalanching all at once, which can cause serious damage to any structures, landscaping, vehicles, and people in the area of impact.
