Press Release - December 15, 2004
Wellington Polymer Technology Inc. is currently in the
process of increasing production capacity at its Chatham,
Ontario, Canada facility in an attempt to keep up with
demand for its Enviroshake® brand roofing product.
Enviroshake® is 95% derived from recycled materials
such as post-industrial plastics, fiber (flax, wood,
hemp), and crumb rubber from tires.
“New equipment is being installed for 2005 which
should more than triple the production levels achieved
in 2004”, says Brian Eberle, Vice President of
Marketing and Sales for the company. “We have
a major portion of the first quarter 2005 production
already spoken for and a good number of orders are already
booked well into the second quarter. We anticipate a
very busy and challenging year ahead. Enviroshake®
was featured on Bob Vila’s Home Again TV show
in January and July of 2004, and was chosen by Popular
Mechanics Magazine (June 2004 issue) as one of the 15
best picks of the International Builders Show,
held in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2004. The orders
flooded in and we had a hard time keeping up with demand”.
Enviroshake® composite engineered roofing provides
homeowners with the best of both worlds, accurately
replicating the desirable look of a “silvered”
taper-split cedar roof while offering the durability
and maintenance free features everyone desires and expects
in a quality premium roof. It will not rot, warp, crack
or blister and is backed by a 50 year non-prorated and
fully transferable warranty. It is resistant to hail,
mold, mildew, and insects. The shakes are easy to install
on plywood or strapping, can be walked on without risk
of damage, require no special tools or fasteners to
install, and can be installed using a power-nailer or
hammer and nails. Installation is similar to that of
cedar however strapping is not required. Custom molded
ridge and hip caps complete the look.

WPTI Press Release -- September
11, 2002
Marty Hope - Calgary Herald
An Ontario company hopes sales of its EnviroShake product
will got through the roof in Alberta and B.C. “They
could, in fact, become our number one markets,”
says Dan Warrener, chief executive officer of Wellington
Polymer Technology Inc. The Chatham, Ont. firm has come
up with a solution to the rotting pine shake roof problem
that has hit Alberta. The EnviroShake is a mixture of
polymers, plastic, rubber, flax and hemp straw as well
as some “secret ingredients,” says Warrener.
After being heated in an extruder to 177 C it is squeezed
into the shape of shakes under 50,000 kilograms of pressure.
“This product does not rot, crack, warp or shrink
and is resistance to insects, moulds and mildew. And,
it’s not damaged by hail, high winds or seasonal
freezing and thawing, and does not require seasonal
maintenance or preservatives,” Warrener explains.
The first Alberta installation was scheduled for this
week in Edmonton on one of the thousands of homes in
the province plagued by the rotting pine shakes. Although
homes in the southern part of the province, including
Calgary have not been immune to the rot, the problem
is most severe in the Edmonton region. Edmonton-based
Enercon will be Wellington’s distributor for the
shakes in Alberta. “I worked in Edmonton for 15
years and was aware of the problem there and in St.
Albert just five years or so after pine shake installations
had been completed. This problem has not diminished
in Alberta and thousands of homeowners are still trying
to come up with an alternative,” Warrener says.
Warrener expects to receive Canadian Construction Materials
Commission approval this fall for use on new homes.
Presently, the product can be used in re-roofing applications.

WPTI
Press Release -- May 13, 2002
Jerry Pickard, Member of Parliament for Chatham-Kent
Essex, and the Hon. Lyle Vanclief, Minister of Agriculture
and Agri-Food, will participate today in the official
opening ceremonies of Wellington Polymer Technology
Inc. (WPTI) in Chatham-Kent.
WPTI have spent over 6 years developing the EnviroShake
- a simulated cedar shake roof covering that integrates
reclaimable agricultural fibres with post-industrial
plastic bi-products. The EnviroShake product has the
shape, texture, and appearance of a cedar roof, but
offers the physical characteristics as well as the
added benefits of performance and durability associated
with a composite material. The EnviroShake is installed
as per the Ontario Building Code requirements for the
installation of cedar shakes and shingles, however,
once installed it is maintenance-free. It is also mould,
mildew and insect resistant, wind and hail repellent,
and will not crack or warp.
The technology is founded on the tenet that it is possible
to create an attractive premium roofing product using
reclaimable post-industrial polymers and agricultural
fibres, along with good chemistry and ingenuity. The
company incorporates such materials as rubber from used
tires, post-industrial and agricultural plastics, reclaimable
industrial hemp and flax fibres, and other ingredients
to manufacture the EnviroShake product. WPTI prides
itself on having developed a premium quality and environmentally
responsible roofing product. Any scrap materials generated
during the manufacturing process are recycled back into
the system, and the final product itself is recyclable.
The project received initial federal government funding
of $250,000 from the Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development
(CARD) Fund through the Agricultural Adaptation Council,
which allowed WPTI to further develop a commercial product
that is manufactured in Chatham.
In recognition of its outstanding contribution to the
vitality of Canada's agri-food sector, Wellington Polymer
Technology Inc. was awarded the first-ever Canadian
Agri-Food Award of Excellence for Innovation. The award
was presented by Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister
Lyle Vanclief at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
in November of 2001.
"Agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship
have reached new heights with the EnviroShake,"
said Minister Vanclief. "Agricultural products
are proving useful in areas other than the food sector,
and every new product like this opens the door for many
more uses of agricultural land. Canada's reputation
for excellence is built on achievement at all levels,
and I am delighted to witness first-hand the production
of this new and truly innovative product," added
Mr. Vanclief.
"We are honoured and grateful that Minister Vanclief
and Mr. Pickard are participating in the official ceremonies
of our new commercial operations here in Chatham,"
said Dan Warrener, the CEO of Wellington Polymer Technology
Inc. "The federal government's support for a new
industry like ours has been most reassuring, and we
look forward to further developing this unique commercial
product in our Chatham operations."

Press Release -- November 07, 2001
Addendum to Jerry Pickard M.P. Chatham-Kent-Essex --
NEWS RELEASE
November 05, 2001
Wellington Polymer Technology Inc. (WPTI) of Chatham,
Ontario was the recipient of the Canadian Agri-Food
Award of Excellence for Innovation. Minister Vanclief
presented the award to WPTI on Monday November 05, at
The Royal Winter Fair's President's Luncheon in Toronto.
The Minister praised WPTI for their innovation in the
development of the Enviroshake® product, and bringing
diversity to the Agriculture sector. WPTI has successfully
integrated reclaimable agricultural fibres with post-industrial
plastic bi-products in the composition of the Enviroshake®
- a simulated cedar shake roof covering. WPTI are now
preparing to launch their creation into the North American
market in the spring and will focus on the local demand
for product as they continue to develop their operations
in Chatham.
Jerry Pickard, M.P. for Chatham- Kent Essex, commented
that "the agri-food sector is crucial to this country's
economy and these awards recognize those who keep us
at the forefront like Wellington Polymer Technology
Inc. in my riding."
The Enviroshake® - a simulated cedar shake roof
covering, offers many advantages over conventional wood
products due to the strength, durability, and other
inherent physical properties of the WPTI composite material.
The final product replicates the look of an antique
cedar roof when installed, but will not require treatments
or any maintenance, will not warp or crack, and will
offer added durability compared to conventional shakes.
Brian Eberle, Director of Marketing and Sales for WPTI,
is excited about the future of the company and the product
as he notes that " this material is environmentally
friendly, produces a premium product, gives real value
to the consumer, and most importantly it looks great".
He further noted that anyone interested in learning
more about the product can access their web site at
www.enviroshake.com, or call their toll free number
