Colour: Dark Grey. Within three to six months the product will “silver” similar to a cedar roof.
Contour: The exposed surface is striated for the first 10” up from the butt end and is flat and smooth to the tapered end. The underside of the shake is flat with hollow ribbed recesses. The butt ends are uniform in appearance.
Dimensions: Enviroshake® comes in widths of 12”, (pre-molded 4”- 8”, 8”- 4” and 6”- 6” profiles) each with a length of 20”. Each shake is tapered and measures approximately ½” at the butt end and narrows to approximately 1/8” (resembling a taper-sawn cedar shake). The shakes are bundled with white strapping bearing the Enviroshake® script, labeled, and shrink-wrapped on skids (7 square/70 bundles per skid) for shipping. Each bundle contains 13 pieces of varied profiles. There are 10 bundles to a “Square”. Ridge caps are a 12” wide one-piece shake, custom formed to the specification of the roof slope and are packaged in bundles of 10 pieces using white strapping bearing the Enviroshake® script.
Coverage: 1 square covers 100 square feet. The minimum slope is 4/12. The maximum exposure is 9”. There is no limit on the maximum slope.
Installation: The installation of the WPTI Enviroshake® is basically the same as applies to installing wood hand-split shakes. Normal code requirements must be applied regarding material standards, fastening, and flashing at intersections when installing the Enviroshake® roof covering in a roof covering system. Regular 11/2” (minimum) galvanized or non-corrosive roofing nails may be used. We recommend using a power nailer with coated coil nails. Always refer to the Enviroshake® Installation Guide as the reference document and prior to starting any installation.
Weight: Enviroshake® weighs 300 lbs per Square. (100 square feet of coverage at maximum 9” exposure – 7” exposure add 18% more material).
