Our Story

Enviroshake is a pioneer in the composite roofing industry having been in operation since 1998.

Who we are:

In 1998 we set out with a mandate to create a technologically advanced product to fulfill a market niche in the roofing industry. Today that vision lives on as, the Enviroshake®. The Enviroshake® is a composite roof shake that authentically emulates the look of a natural ‘silvered’ cedar shake, that competes in the specialty/premium roof markets. Enviroshake is a leader in the composite roofing market, and there are no other composite or synthetic products available today that can rival the combination of the Enviroshakes look, quality, and durability. In 2009, the company underwent new ownership and was renamed Enviroshake Inc. Enviroshake Inc. continues to grow steadily, and plans on staying in the fore front of the composite roofing market for a long time. Our state of the art production facility is located in Chatham, Ontario, a 1-hour drive east of Detroit/Windsor on Highway 401.

Enviroshake® prides itself on engaging in best practices, and we are always striving to minimize our environmental footstep. Any scrap materials generated during the manufacturing process are recycled back into the system. In fact, the final product itself is recyclable. Enviroshake® also directly diverts any waste materials that are not biodegradable. Enviroshake® is proud that its operation fulfills all the components of the 3R environmental agenda – reduce, reuse and recycle. Most importantly, Enviroshake has created a product that has the visual appeal of the cedar shake roof, with many added advantages, but most important it can be delivered to the customer without cutting down a single tree.

Enviroshake® has been assessed and registered on September 27th 2002 by Intertek Testing Services NA Ltd. as conforming to the requirements of the ISO 9001: 2008. The Quality Management System is applicable to the design, manufacture and distribution of Enviroshake® composite roofing material. We are proud to be an ISO registered company committed to quality in manufacturing.

What We Do

The Company’s product, trademarked as “Enviroshake® “, is a composite product designed to replicate the appearance of a weathered or rustic taper-sawn cedar shake roof. With out 8 different profiles, and custom molded ridge caps, the Enviroshake replicates the look of a cedar shake roof in appearance, contour and texture. Predominantly all of the materials (95%) used in the product are reclaimed materials. The Enviroshake® composite blend is a mixture of post-industrial plastic(s), recycled elastomers and cellulosic fibre materials. The proprietary formulation and manufacturing process results in a product that is has enhanced durability, longevity, and performance. The Enviroshake is not susceptible to mold, mildew, fungus, rot or insect infestation. It is also hail resistant and can withstand severe weather conditions and temperature fluctuations and extremes. The Enviroshake® can be installed efficiently with less waste than traditional cedar, does not require any pretreatment, and once installed is maintenance free. There are no added expenses for preservatives or coatings that are recommended with wood and other products. The Enviroshake will retain its physical properties and look for decades, and is even sold with a lifetime warranty that is non-prorated and fully transferable within the first 50 years.

The product has been used in high profile new construction and renovation projects such as the Henry David Thoreau home and featured on numerous television shows. Enviroshake is available across Canada and the U.S. and can be installed only by Certified installers to maintain the highest quality of the installation.
